Hair loss, also known as alopecia, can affect your scalp or your entire body, and can be temporary or permanent. It is most often caused by genetics, changes in hormones, medical conditions or the natural aging process. It isn’t limited to men– anyone can experience it– but it is more common in men. Hair loss that affects just the scalp is usually referred to as baldness and people have various approaches to dealing with it; some choose to leave it untreated while others hide it with various styling techniques or even hats. Many treatments are available to help and to restore some of the lost growth.
